Revisiting the EKC Hypothesis With Export Diversification and Ecological Footprint Pressure Index for India: A RALS-Fourier Cointegration Test

This study assesses India’s environmental problems by focusing on the ecological footprint pressure index (EFPI), which provides a simultaneous analysis of biocapacity and footprint. In particular, examines impact export diversification, economic growth, renewable energy EFPI under Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis for India. To analyze long-run relationships, Residual Augmented Ordinary Least Squares (RALS)-Fourier cointegration test is applied to annual data from 1965 2014. Contrary EKC hypothesis, results show U-shaped relationship between income EFPI. The absence implies that development does not help ensure quality; hence, other measures are required minimize irreversible problems. this regard, suggest consumption diversification reduce Based overall findings study, it recommended Indian government improve values changing structure mix.
